MICE since 2008: interviewing Juan Miguel Caldentey

Juan Miguel Caldentey, one of our two managing partners, shared in this interview how it is to be part of the biggest owner-managed DMC in Spain.

It all started in 2008, when Juan Miguel and Markus Müller met in Mallorca, both looking for new challenges and suddenly maximice events group was born, being Mallorca the only destination at that point. As clients kept asking for more destinations, the next office opened in Ibiza. In 2014, maximice took a big step and entered the mainland: new offices in Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga and Sevilla have been established, as well as two partner offices in Bilbao and the Canary Islands.

This is what allows maximice to stay local in each of their destinations, thanks to their personal relationships with suppliers and staying always up to date.

Spain MICE destination

Nowadays, the team is as big as 35 international employees, of which 25 are project managers located in the different offices in Spain. “Teamwork is one of the pillars of the company: the more people – the more ideas. In this very competitive industry, creativity and personal relations are key to make every project a success.”

Maximice is divided into two specialized business unites: MICE and Automotive. The first one dedicated to business travel, mostly meetings and incentives. The latter focuses solely on car launches, with many dealer trainings and press events every year.
