Stories from our Barcelona office: Introducing Jessica and Raquel

Date

This 2024, our Barcelona office has expanded with the addition of Jessica and Raquel, our talented new MICE Project Managers. Let’s take a moment to get to know them better, in their own words:

“Hi, I’m Jessica! Born in Barcelona to a Málaga-born father and German mother, I’ve had the privilege of living between Andalucía, Catalonia, and Germany, which gave me an early appreciation for diversity and different cultures. At 18, I moved to Paris for six years and have since lived in over 10 countries, including France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Venezuela, and South Africa. Despite my global adventures, Barcelona remains my favorite city—it’s truly home!

My academic journey began at the German School of Barcelona and later at the Administrative Studies Center. I hold an MBA in Business Administration from EAE and have also trained as a veterinary assistant, as I’m deeply passionate about animals and marine life.

My journey into MICE began with theater production, including Cirque du Soleil, followed by roles in corporate events like car launches, pharmaceutical conferences, and sports events. I was drawn to maximice events group because it provides the perfect platform to develop new skills in the tourism sector and expand my expertise to include different types of events.

Outside of work, I am an avid sailor and have explored nearly all the seas by sailboat. I’m also a music enthusiast and believe that gastronomy speaks volumes about a country or city and its people. I thrive in collaborative environments, and I genuinely enjoy working in a team to create innovative concepts and meaningful content for events.”

“My name is Raquel and I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, however I’ve spent nearly half my life living abroad. My journey began in England, where I fell in love with the museums, art, history, and culture. From there, I moved to France to complete my master’s degree and then to Germany, where I landed my first job after university.

What was initially a plan to spend just a few years in Barcelona has turned into over a decade. Here, I built my life, got married, and became a proud parent to two wonderful children. I hold a degree in Tourism and a Master’s in International Negotiations.

My career has taken me through exciting experiences, including working with major events like the Confederations Cup and World Cup organizations. In Barcelona, I’ve collaborated with several Destination Management Companies (DMCs). One standout experience has been working with Meg, a company where I’ve witnessed incredible teamwork and dedication to creating exceptional events. It’s been both an inspiring and rewarding workplace.

Barcelona is truly a special city where everything comes together: the beach, parks, mountains, and the charm of a small-town vibe within a big city. I’m passionate about traveling, exploring different cultures, and enjoying outdoor activities, all of which inspire me every day.”
