Uncovering hidden gems for MICE near Barcelona during our latest FAM Trip

Date

At maximice events group, we are committed to showcasing the most inspiring and authentic sides of Spain to the international MICE community. While Barcelona is one of Europe’s top destinations for corporate events, its surrounding regions like Sitges or the Penedés offer countless hidden gems perfect for meetings, incentives, and group experiences.

Recently, our Barcelona team hosted four Scandinavian agencies on a curated fam trip designed to reveal some of these lesser‑known but highly versatile areas just outside the city.

Our journey took us through the beautiful countryside south of Barcelona, an area full of opportunities for unique corporate activities, wine experiences, and relaxing coastal moments.

The program included:

  • Visits to two exceptional wineries showcasing the region’s cava traditions and offering immersive experiences ideal for incentive groups.
  • A Mediterranean lunch featuring fresh, local ingredients, a perfect example of the gastronomic richness available for group events.
  • A peaceful stroll through the coastal town of Sitges, known for its charm, culture and excellent locations for accommodation and off‑site activities.

This mix of nature, gastronomy, culture, and seaside atmosphere reflects exactly what today’s event planners look for when designing memorable MICE programs in Spain.

This fam trip was made possible thanks to the dedication of our Scandinavian market representative Valeska Nawatzki and the fantastic team at Le Méridien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa, one of the standout properties in the region for meetings and incentive travel.

We also extend our gratitude to our trusted local partners: Elegance Limousines, Cal Blay Catering, Raventós Codorníu, Llopart and our knowledgeable guide Cesar Escuin.

We would also like to express our warmest thanks to all participants from Denmark, Norway, and Finland, who trusted us and joined this journey with such curiosity and enthusiasm. Their openness, energy, and genuine interest in discovering the region made the experience even more enriching and memorable for all of us.

For us, showcasing these secondary yet exceptional destinations is key to expanding what international planners imagine when they think of Spain. The areas surrounding Barcelona offer diversity, authenticity, and a rich Mediterranean character that cannot be found in the city alone.

We look forward to continuing to welcome partners from around the world and revealing even more hidden gems for MICE in Spain!
